Osteoporosis
Diagnosis and management of metabolic bone disease to reduce fracture risk and maintain bone health.
What is Osteoporosis?
Osteoporosis is a metabolic bone disease characterised by reduced bone density and deterioration of bone tissue, leading to fragile bones and an increased risk of fractures. It is often called a 'silent disease' because bone loss occurs without symptoms until a fracture happens.
Osteoporosis is closely linked to hormonal changes — particularly the decline in oestrogen after menopause in women, and testosterone decline in men. Other endocrine conditions such as hyperparathyroidism, hyperthyroidism and prolonged steroid use can also contribute to bone loss. At EndoMedics, we provide comprehensive assessment and management of osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease.
Risk Factors & Signs
- Loss of height over time
- Back pain from fractured or collapsed vertebrae
- Stooped posture (kyphosis)
- Fractures from minor falls or even coughing
- Postmenopausal women or men over 50
- Long-term steroid or certain medication use
- Low body weight or calcium/vitamin D deficiency
Our Treatment Approach

Referral for DEXA scans to accurately measure bone mineral density and fracture risk.
Hormonal Assessment
Evaluation of underlying hormonal causes including parathyroid, thyroid and sex hormone levels.
Calcium & Vitamin D Optimisation
Assessment and supplementation to ensure adequate bone-building nutrients.
Anti-resorptive Therapy
